All about colour correcting

Hey guys, today I'm going to talk a bit about colour correcting, how to do it, were to apply it and what colours to put on the different areas. So without further ado, lets begin.

So, colour correcting is basically 'neutralizing' the skin with different colours before you apply your foundation, it's not something you have to do everyday, or even at all but if you're tired of your dark circles still poking out from under your makeup or you have any blemishes you want to cover up and correct then colour correcting is a pretty cool step to add into your everyday makeup routine or going out routine.

Yellow and green are two of the most popular colours to correct with, yellow being great for things like covering purple hued dark circles under the eyes and green for camouflaging red spots and overall redness.

Here is a list of the most common colours to correct with and what they are used for:

Yellow
What it's good for?:  Perfect for covering up dullness, concealing purple hued dark circles, brightening lackluster complexions and corrects mild redness.

Applying?: Under eyes, down side of the nose and even the eyelids to cover any veins.

Tip: If you only want to coverup your dark circles but don't want to spend money on products you can use red lipstick! as red is on the opposite side of the colour spectrum to purple it will cover dark circles, especially purple really well. (make sure the lipstick isn't a bright red, as it won't work as well as a darker one)

Green
What its good for?: Perfect for covering and concealing mild and dark redness and camouflaging spots.

Applying?: You can apply it just on the patches/spots that are red or you could even mix it in with your primer if you want your whole face covering.

Peach/Orange
What its good for?: Ideal for cancelling out blue hued dark circles, brown spots typically better for a deeper skin tone, also great for other spots on deeper skin tones.

Apply?: Any area you have any imperfections like brown spots or blueish patches typically found under the eyes or if you have a bruise.

Pink
What its used for?: Perfect for cancelling out discoloration on lighter skin tones, works well to create a lifted appearance and as a highlight, also brightens dullness.

Apply?: Wherever your skin needs brightening i.e. under the eyes, on the forehead and chin. Or wherever needs correcting or you want highlight.

 Purple/ Lavender
What its used for?: Great for neutralizing yellow undertones preferably on fair to pale skin tones, also brightens the complexion.

Apply?: A common place to have yellow undertones is on the cheeks so either you can apply it on the cheeks if need be or wherever you need it. Also apply if you want to brighten any areas of your complexion.

 Blue
What its used for?: Cancels out sallowness and hyperpigmentation on fair skin.

Apply?: Anywhere on your skin that has excessive/noticeable pigmentation.

Note - You can apply two different colours to the same area.
Example - If you have blue and purple circles say under your eyes you can apply both peach and yellow under your eyes.
